also while i’m at it; user teningosui talking about decay of angel SHOCK
tōru is deeply fascinating to me. like kiyoaki, he’s melancholic and otherworldly (angelic) beautiful, he’s intelligent and def gives an impression he just doesn’t belong in the mortal world, like he is just a higher deity, not to say an angel 🤪
on the other hand, he is also manipulative and vile and represents the worst kind of decay and makes every living moment for honda hell which is so so so interesting because none of the reincarnations until now had any agency or conciousness they’re a part of something bigger, unlike tōru who literally after first meeting honda knew Something Was Up.
also i’d like to mention that i love how deeply sea and the waves are tied to tōru’s personality and morality. every movement or gesture tōru makes is directly connected to the movement of the waves or the restless sea or every time he has a moral dillema it is portrayed by the sea darkening and similar.
i can’t wait to finish this book but at the same time i’m sad to be finishing this tetralogy😭
